Keiko M. H. was born in Japan. Inspired by the movies and music she admired during high school, she dreamed of flying to the United States—a dream she fulfilled at age twenty. While studying English as a second language at SUNY New Paltz, her passion for oil painting flourished, eventually earning her a bachelor’s degree in visual arts.
Deeply influenced by Impressionism, particularly the works of Claude Monet, Keiko draws inspiration from personally meaningful subjects. Connection is a central theme in her art. She works with various mediums, including oil paints, acrylics, pastels, alcohol inks, and cold wax, creating pieces that explore the relationship between light and intricate spatial dynamics.
After her marriage, Keiko temporarily set aside her artistic pursuits to focus on raising her family. Now that her children are older, she is determined to establish herself as a professional painter. She currently resides in Delaware County, NY, where she has found a settled home.
Keiko is currently working with ink on wood panel.
